Who am I?

I’m a 24 year old campaign and non-profit professional who found himself getting progressively further into debt after working two campaigns and graduating college in 2008. I also came to realization that the 14+ hour days of campaigns and the 9-5 paradigm of American corporate culture isn’t for me. I value my free time and independence too much to make my job my life (in the case of campaigns), and want a slower paced and stress free life. My biggest values are self reliance, working smarter (not harder) to get ahead, and having the financial independence to lead the life that I desire. Right now, as I try to save money by not eating dinner out 7 days a week, or going out and spending $20-30 a night on drinks with people, I’m putting my free time to use by being productive with this blog.

What is this blog about?

This blog is intended to chronicle my journey out of debt while working to develop an alternative career path and lifestyle that fits my ideals. My hope is that this blog will help others that find themselves in my situation, whether it be a recent college graduate realizing that they’re deep in debt and have no idea how to manage their income, or someone looking to find a more agreeable career choice, then my journey will give them some tips, pointers, and starting points for getting themselves on track.

What Topics Are Covered by This Blog?

My writings here will explore the topics of personal finance, self improvement, and developing a lifestyle that meets my ideals and goals.  Of course the focus of this blog could expand or narrow depending on what happens in my professional and personal life.
